ABANDONED PROPERTIES — MOVING FORWARD WITH ACCOUNTABILITY

The Village of Mingo Junction is continuing its efforts to address abandoned and neglected properties throughout our community.

The attached list identifies properties throughout the Village that have been identified as abandoned. This includes properties in Reservoir Hill, North Hill, Church Hill, and along Commercial Street. 

We want our residents to know we see these properties, hear your concerns, and are working to address them.

This is about accountability. Property ownership comes with a responsibility to maintain that property and not allow it to become a burden on neighbors or the community.

At the same time, we want to give people the opportunity to step up and help solve the problem. If you own one of these properties, have an interest in one, or have information that may help us contact the appropriate owner or responsible party, we encourage you to reach out to the Village.

Our goal is not simply to make a list. Our goal is to get results. We want to see properties cleaned up, maintained, rehabilitated, sold to responsible owners where appropriate, or otherwise addressed through the proper process.

We know this will not happen overnight. Years of deterioration cannot be corrected in a day. But we have to start somewhere, and accountability is part of moving Mingo Junction forward.

We also ask for the community's cooperation and patience as we work through the appropriate procedures. Every property has its own circumstances, and the Village must follow the proper legal process.

To those who own these properties: now is the time to step up. Work with us. Maintain your property. Make a plan. Be part of improving the neighborhood.

And to our residents who continue to take pride in their homes, properties, and neighborhoods — thank you. Your efforts matter, and they make a difference.

Together, we can continue working toward a cleaner, safer, stronger Mingo Junction.
